
Hector Gutierrez Ties For Fifth At Yale Spring Invitational

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Hector Gutierrez tied for fifth place at the Yale Spring Invitational, held Saturday at The Course At Yale. As a team, the Sacred Heart men's golf team finished the day in 12th place.
Gutierrez climbed 19 spots up the leaderboard in his afternoon round to finish in fifth. After a six-over 76 in the morning, Gutierrez fired a two-over 72 to wrap up his day at +8. Alex Manner improved by 10 spots on the leaderboard from his first round to his second, finishing the day at +15 with rounds of 79 and 76 to tie for 35th. Curtis Quinn was +24 on the day to finish the tournament in 60th place, with Matt Shubley rounding out the scoring group at +25 and tied for 61st.
The Pioneers improved by 14 strokes from the first round to the second. After posting a team score of 323 in the morning, SHU was +29 in the second round to finish at +72. SHU was five strokes behind Fairfield for 11th place. Yale "B" won the tournament at +34, one stroke ahead of Bucknell.
SHU will play in the 'Til Duty is Done Invitational, hosted by UConn at Mohegan Sun Country Club, April 23-24.
