Sedlar and Gutierrez Named NEC Golfers Of The Week

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Sacred Heart freshmen golfers Chelsea Sedlar and Hector Gutierrez were named the Northeast Conference Women's and Men's Golfers of the Week, respectively, on Friday.

Sedlar took home two straight individual titles as she tied for first place at the Hartford Hawks Invitational and won the SHU Spring Invitational outright. At the Hartford Invite, the freshman entered the final day in a tie for fifth and three strokes behind the leaders. Sedlar turned in a three-over 75 to end in a tie with Quinnipiac's Luciana Tobia. She then fired rounds of 75 and 76 to finish +7 and win by two strokes at SHU's own event. The Pioneers also earned the team title with their overall score of 303. Sedlar has placed in the top-25 in each of SHU's five tournaments this spring.

Gutierrez turned in his second top-10 finish and highest overall placing in his rookie campaign at the Yale Spring Invitational last Saturday. The Boca del Rio, Mexico native tied for fifth in the field of 71 players on the par-70 course. Gutierrez carded a 148 after shooting an opening round of 76 and closing with a 72.
