
Men's Lacrosse Falls at #1/3 Yale

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Sacred Heart men's lacrosse team moved to 2-8 on the 2016 season Tuesday night, falling to the #1/3 Yale Bulldogs 19-3 at Reese Stadium.
Yale (9-0) scored twice in the first 2:05 as Ben Reeves and JW McGovern staked the Bulldogs to an early 2-0 lead. Max Tuttle got the Pioneers on the board at the 9:53 mark of the first quarter, getting an assist from Bryce Jurk to make the score 2-1. Eric Scott put Yale back up by two with a man-up goal at the 5:03 mark of the first. Brian Masi cut the deficit to one, 3-2, with 2:24 to play in the first on his 18th goal of the season. The Bulldogs scored twice in the final 37 seconds to take a 5-2 lead after one quarter.
Those two goals sparked a 14-0 run for top-ranked Yale, as the Bulldogs took a 17-2 lead with 9:58 remaining in the game on a Will Robinson Goal. Matt Posch got the Pioneers on the scoreboard with 8:21 to play, but that would be all the scoring for SHU on Tuesday night.
Jurk's three assists are a career-high. Tuttle led SHU with five groundballs as Ryan O'Donoghue had three caused turnovers. Reeves led all scorers with four goals and six points.
The Pioneers travel to Philadelphia Saturday to take on Saint Joseph's at 1 p.m.
