
Vermont Gets by SHU Men's Lacrosse

BURLINGTON, Vt – The Sacred Heart men's lacrosse team (4-2) fell to Vermont (7-0), 17-14, Wednesday afternoon at Virtue Field.
How it happened...
Vermont edged the Pioneers by one at the conclusion of the first quarter, 4-3, and led by two at the intermission, 8-6. Vermont struck first with Max Tuttle providing an answer as both teams rolled out their respective scoring. Kevin Cop added two before the half to lead three other SHU scorers-Tuttle (2), Julian Garritano (1), Logan Liljeberg (1).
Out of the locker-room, the two teams traded goals before the Catamounts erupted for a 6-0 rally that silenced SHU for the duration of the third period, 15-7.
Joe Saggese put an end to the Pioneers' drought netting a goal to commence the final period and another tally moments after to bring the Pioneers back within eight, 16-8.
SHU continued its fight upping its offense considerably going 6-1 in the closing minutes but the fight fell short leaving all but a three-point deficit by the final horn.
