SOMERSET, NJ – A pair of Sacred Heart University men's lacrosse players were recognized as some of the best in the Northeast Conference when the league handed out its end of the year awards. Attacker Logan Liljeberg and midfielder Donovan Lacey were both named First-Team All-NEC.
In addition, first-year attacker Sal Miccio was named to the All-Rookie Team.
This is the second First-Team selection of Liljeberg's career to go along with a 2019 honor. A native of Wrentham, Mass., Liljeberg is third in the conference at 4.09 points per game thanks to 2.00 goals per game (10th) and 2.10 assists per game (fourth).
Liljeberg had multiple points in 12-of-13 games this season, topped by a career-high seven against Bryant. He finished his SHU tenure third in assists (65), fifth in points (135) and ninth in goals (70).
Lacy is one of the top defensive midfielders in the NEC as is evident with his career-high 42 ground balls. In addition, he had a team-high 14 caused turnovers. The Brookeville, Md. native is 11th in school history with 33 caused turnovers and a full senior season should move him into the top 10 for ground balls as well.
Miccio came on during the second half of the season to bolster the SHU scoring attack. His breakout game was a four-goal performance against LIU that he matched against Bryant and Hobart. A native of Northport, NY, Miccio ended the year eighth in the league at 2.11 goals per game. That rate jumped to 2.25 versus league opponents, rating him seventh.
