WEST POINT, N.Y.— The Sacred Heart University track & field teams began 2022 with an appearance at the West Point Open on Saturday. The Pioneers saw two top-two finishes, three season bests and five personal bests.
Kaylee Stenderowicz won the triple jump for the women with a leap of 11.62m. The junior also posted a fourth-place finish in the long jump at 5.26m. Both jumps were season bests for Stenderowicz.
Abbie Mokwuah earned fourth place while setting a personal best of 12.80m in the shot put.
The women had two personal bests from Kelly Parker (3rd, 10:48.62) in the 3000m run and Emma Viggiano (5th, 3.05m) in the pole vault.
Other performances included fifth-place finishes from Brigit Kelly (11:11.00) in the 3000m run, Maya Mocarski (7.91) in the 60m dash and Nicole Szilagyi (9.43) in the 60m hurdles.
The women saw two teams place in the top five in the 4x400M relay. Tara Brody, Alexa Kavarsky, Prithika Satish and Madeline Archangelo claimed second with a time of 4:20.39. Alisha Stadnicki, Cassandra Sturdevant, Suhayla Johnson and Christina Conte earned third at 4:55.47.
On the men's side,
Owen Nassaney claimed second place in the high jump with a leap of 2.03m.
The Pioneers also saw two new personal bests.
Kevin Martin ran a time of 8:51.75 in the 3000m, while
Justin Infante had a 6.01m leap in the long jump.
Jonathan Mahon,
Lance Hayes,
Rafael Mahario and
Joseph Morrone competed in the 4x400 relay and finished fourth with a time of 3:32.93.
