SOMERSET, N.J. – First-year Jake Ward of the Sacred Heart University men's lacrosse team earned Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week honors, as announced by the league office on Monday.
Ward picked up SHU's first weekly nod of the season. Zach Cole of Saint Joseph's earned Player of the Week while Wagner's Danny Brady rounded out the awards as Defensive Player of the Week.
The attacker from Highlands Ranch, Colo. is the team's leading scorer with four after netting two in each of the first two games. His pair of goals aided in SHU's first win of the year over in-state foe Quinnipiac, 13-10, on Friday.
Ward and the Pioneers take the field Tuesday at 7 p.m. when they host crosstown rival Fairfield.
