Jake Ward totaled five points to help SHU to a 1-1 week on the road
SOMERSET, N.J. – For the third-straight week, first-year Jake Ward was recognized as the Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week on Monday afternoon.
Saint Joseph's rounded out the awards with Player and Defensive Player of the Week. Zach Cole earned Player while Patrick Clemens earned Defensive Player of the Week.
Ward totaled five points to help the Pioneers to a 1-1 week including a hat trick to aid in SHU's 14-10 victory at UMass Lowell. At Providence, Ward netted one and contributed a ground ball in both road contests. In the national ranks, Ward sits fourth among rookies with a .429 shot percentage and 12th in goals with nine.
The Pioneers open conference play this Saturday as they host Hobart. Face-off is slated for 1 p.m.
