
Ward Gets Second NEC Rookie of the Week Nod

Jake Ward led Pioneers with two assists on Tuesday
SOMERSET, N.J. – For the second week in a row, first-year Jake Ward of the Sacred Heart University men's lacrosse team earned Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday.
Hobart's John Herlihy earned Player of the Week while Patrick Clemens of Saint Joseph's rounded out the weekly awards with a Defensive Player of the Week nod.
Ward led the Pioneers in assists with two in their 19-16 setback against Fairfield on Tuesday. The pair of assists marked the first of his career. The rookie attacker ranks third in the NEC in shot percentage at .417 after netting one goal off two shots that were on target against the Stags. He also added two ground balls in the contest.
SHU takes the field on Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Providence for its first of two road contests this week.
