VERONA, N.Y. --- Coming off a Northeast Conference championship, the Sacred Heart University men's golf team started the 2022-23 campaign on Sunday. The Pioneers opened the season at the Turning Stone Intercollegiate, hosted by the University of Missouri at the Kaluhyat Golf Course.
The Pioneers are tied with Mount St. Mary's for eighth at 601 (300-301). Host Missouri has a 15-stroke lead, posting a 36-hole score of 557. Stetson is next at 572.
Junior Marcus Lim is tied for fourth after a four-under score of 140 (69-710). Newcomer Michael Rothberg is next at 151 (77-74)). Sophomore Jason Pelley opened with a 76 as part of his 156 (76-80). Posting identical scores of 78 was classmate Jonah Camarillo. Shaving five strokes off his first round was Eoin Freeman at 151 (83-78).
Sacred Heart plays the final 18 holes on Monday.
