Pioneers Go Six Under as Team in SHU Fall Classic Round 2

Lacayo’s 67 (-5) was the best round recorded today

MILFORD, Conn. – Sacred Heart University men's golf shot a stellar six-under par as a team in the second round of the SHU Fall Classic, hosted at the Great River Golf Club on Tuesday, to widen their lead at the three-day event.

Sacred Heart A posted a score of 282 (-6) today at their home course, holding a leading combined score of 573 (-3). Rhode Island is in second place with a score of 588 (+12). Sacred Heart B is in ninth place through two rounds with a score of 633 (+57).

Marcus Lim paces the field with a combined score of 141 (-3) after carding a two-under 70 today. The senior had just one bogie on the card today, combining it with three birdies for his second straight round under par.

Jason Pelley and Pablo Lacayo gave the Pioneers three golfers in the top three. Pelley is in second at 143 (-1) after posting a one-under round of 71 this afternoon. Lacayo had the best day of anyone on the course, going five under with a 67 to climb into a tie for third at even-par 144. Pelley tallied four birdies on both days, while Lacayo finished today's round with six.

Mike Rothberg is right in the mix with his teammates in sixth. The Sophomore is one over (145) through two rounds after carding a 74 (+2) today.

Alex Turlik and Eoin Freeman are following for the Pios in T15th and 24th, respectively. Turlik finished both days with four-over rounds of 76 to give him a combined score of 152 (+8). Freeman cut two strokes off his round-one score with a 77 (+5) today and owns a combined score of 156 (+12).

Rounding out SHU's golfers are Conor Handley, Sho Suzuki and Kevin Morris in T32nd, T37th and T43rd.

The SHU Fall Classic will conclude tomorrow morning, as the golfers will begin teeing off at 9 a.m.
