SHU will play its second season in the MAAC
FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Sacred Heart University men's lacrosse team has announced the schedule for the 2024 season. The Pioneers will have seven home games along with eight road games.
Coach Jon Basti is entering his 11th season as head coach of the Pioneers and has put together a competitive non-conference schedule to prepare for the team's second season in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play. "We are very excited about the opportunities we have to compete against some very good programs this season," said Coach Basti. "Our non-conference schedule will be a very good way for us to prepare for our very challenging MAAC slate. We are looking forward to this year."
SHU opens the season at home on February 4th, hosting Stony Brook on Campus Field at noon. The Pios will hit the road for the next two, facing Merrimack and Holy Cross on back-to-back Saturdays.
Sacred Heart will be home for two consecutive games, taking on crosstown rival Fairfield University on Wednesday, February 21st, at 7:00 pm, followed by Le Moyne on Saturday, February 25th, at noon.
The Pioneers will wrap up non-conference play on the road on Saturday, March 2nd, at Drexel at noon.
SHU opens MAAC play against Siena at home on Saturday, March 9th, at noon in a 2023 quarterfinal rematch.
Saturday, April 6th, will be the Pioneers' last regular season home game against Wagner at noon before heading on the road for the final three regular-season games at Quinnipiac, Mount St. Mary's, and ending with Canisius.
