Men's Basketball Travels to Providence

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Sacred Heart University men's basketball team will jump back on the road this Saturday, December 16th to take on Providence College at the Amica Mutual Pavilion at 1:30 pm.

Sacred Heart fell 67-57 at home to Fairfield last Saturday.
Raymond Espinal-Guzman scored a season-high 11 points to lead SHU.
Epsinal-Guzman led three Pioneers in double figures, as Nico Galette and Alex Sobel both had 10 points each.
Galette grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.

OPENING TIP:

Sacred Heart and Providence meet for the seventh time in series history on Saturday. The Friars hold the advantage (7-0) dating back to 2001.
SHU returns to the road after falling to Fairfield on Saturday at home.
Three Pioneers are averaging in double figures: Nico Galette (14.6), Tanner Thomas (10.8), and Alex Sobel (10.0). Sobel leads the team in rebounds (7.3), and Galette is second with 7.1 rpg.
Sobel is fifth in the nation in blocks with 28 (as of 12/13) and is 13th in blocks per game with 2.55.
Galette and Thomas have brought in NEC Player of the Week awards for the Pioneers this season.
The team voted Galette, Reilly, and Kyle McGee to be captains of the 2023-24 squad.
The Pios were selected first in the Northeast Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll. Galette and Reilly were selected to the All-NEC preseason team. Both Galette and Reilly earned All-NEC first and third-team honors last season, respectively.
