Pioneers Host Fairfield on Saturday

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Sacred Heart University men's basketball team is back home in the William H. Pitt Center on Saturday, December 9, to host Fairfield University in a crosstown rivalry game at 6:00 pm.

Sacred Heart fell 85-50 on the road at St. John's on Wednesday evening.
Nico Galette led the team in scoring with 13 points for his seventh game in double figures this season.
Alex Sobel and Galette each had seven rebounds, and Sobel tallied a game-high four blocks.

OPENING TIP:

Sacred Heart is looking for its first win over Fairfield as the teams meet for the 10th time on Saturday in a series dating back to 2007. This is only the second time the game has been played in the Pitt Center.
SHU returns home after falling on the road to St. John's on Wednesday.
Three Pioneers are averaging in double figures: Nico Galette (15.1), Tanner Thomas (10.8), and Alex Sobel (10.0). Sobel leads the team in rebounds (7.5), and Galette is second with 7.1 rpg.
Sobel is tied for third in the nation in blocks with 23 (as of 12/8) and is 10th in blocks per game with 2.7.
Galette and Thomas have brought in NEC Player of the Week awards for the Pioneers this season.
The team voted Galette, Reilly, and Kyle McGee to be captains of the 2023-24 squad.
The Pios were selected first in the Northeast Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll. Galette and Reilly were selected to the All-NEC preseason team. Both Galette and Reilly earned All-NEC first and third-team honors last season, respectively.
