SHU takes on crosstown rival Fairfield in the Pitt Center
FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Sacred Heart University men's basketball team is back home in the William H. Pitt Center on Saturday, December 9, to host Fairfield University in a crosstown rivalry game at 6:00 pm.

- Sacred Heart fell 85-50 on the road at St. John's on Wednesday evening.
- Nico Galette led the team in scoring with 13 points for his seventh game in double figures this season.
- Alex Sobel and Galette each had seven rebounds, and Sobel tallied a game-high four blocks.
OPENING TIP:
- Sacred Heart is looking for its first win over Fairfield as the teams meet for the 10th time on Saturday in a series dating back to 2007. This is only the second time the game has been played in the Pitt Center.
- SHU returns home after falling on the road to St. John's on Wednesday.
- Three Pioneers are averaging in double figures: Nico Galette (15.1), Tanner Thomas (10.8), and Alex Sobel (10.0). Sobel leads the team in rebounds (7.5), and Galette is second with 7.1 rpg.
- Sobel is tied for third in the nation in blocks with 23 (as of 12/8) and is 10th in blocks per game with 2.7.
- Galette and Thomas have brought in NEC Player of the Week awards for the Pioneers this season.
- The team voted Galette, Reilly, and Kyle McGee to be captains of the 2023-24 squad.
- The Pios were selected first in the Northeast Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll. Galette and Reilly were selected to the All-NEC preseason team. Both Galette and Reilly earned All-NEC first and third-team honors last season, respectively.
