Blatman's personal best earns top spot

NEW HAVEN, Conn. — The Sacred Heart University men's track and field team concluded an eventful weekend of competition earning three event wins at the Yale Season Opener on Saturday.

On the track, the Pioneers earned podium finishes in six events. Two first year's earned podium placements in sprints and mid-distance as Alexander Rotondi earned second place in the 300m while Alexander Rosario's finished in third place in the 500m. In distance, Jacob Strain took second place while Edward Tristine took home the gold in the men's mile.

Nazir Hibbert tied his season-best in the men's high jump, clearing a mark of 1.90m while Hunter Harris and Sarunas Montvila claimed second and third in triple jump, respectively. The Pios received good performances in the throws portion as Daniel Blatman took a third place finish in the weighted throw, earning a personal-best mark of 17.24m on his first throw of the day.
