SHU Tallies New 4x400 School Record at IC4A/ECAC Indoors

Blatman also set a new PR in the weight throw
BOSTON – The Sacred Heart University men's track and field team completed competition at the 2023 IC4A/ECAC Indoor Championships Sunday afternoon, capping the day by setting a new school record in the 4x400m relay.
The Pioneers placed in a tie for 19th of 42 programs with 14 points as a team.
Leading the way for the Pioneers was its 4x400 meter relay team, as the team of Rafael Mahario, Dominic Miele, Jonathan Mahon, and Joseph Morrone set a new school record with a time of 3:15.19. After setting a new school record, the SHU team finished fourth for five points.
The Pios' relay team joined Douglas Suter, Cameron Croce, and Daniel Blatman in earning Sacred Heart points.
Suter posted five new personal records competing in the heptathlon. In addition, the first year set new marks in the long jump (5.68m), shot put (9.50m), 60m hurdles (9.54), 1,000 meters (2:49.12), and the heptathlon (4019) itself. Suter finished fifth in the event to earn four points.
Croce and Blatman both competed in the weight throw. Croce (17.69m) took fifth for four points, while Blatman placed eighth and tallied a new PR of 16.87m for one point.
The SHU 4x400 relay team joined Suter, Croce, and Blatman by earning All-East honors at the event.
The qualifiers from the Sacred Heart track and field teams will next compete at the 2023 NCAA Men's Track and Field Indoor Championships on March 10-11 in Albuquerque, N.M.
