Men's Lacrosse Trio Garners All-MAAC Honors

Three Pioneers were named to All-MAAC teams
FAIRFIELD, Conn.-- The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference announced the men's lacrosse All-MAAC teams for the 2023 season. Sacred Heart men's lacrosse midfielders Carson Spooner and Sal Miccio were named to the All-MAAC second team, and first-year Michael Moreschi earned a spot on the All-Rookie team.
All three Pioneers earned MAAC accolades for the first time in their careers. During his first season Miccio was named to the Northeast Conference All-Rookie team.
Miccio is second on the team in points with 34 and is tied for second in goals at 21. He has dished out a team-leading 13 assists and collected 10 ground balls with two caused turnovers. The Northport, N.Y. native had 11 multi-point games this season and tallied a season-high four points in three seperate games. He scored a season-high, three goals in the Pioneers' 15-8 victory over Canisius.
Spooner earned a spot on the second team as a midfielder for the Pioneers. He currently is fourth overall in points with 31, tied for second in goals with 21, and is third on the team in assists with 10. Spooner also collected 12 ground balls and caused four turnovers. He's recorded 10 multipoint games and tallied a career-high five points against Mount St. Mary's.
Moreschi notches his first conference accolade to kick off a stellar rookie campaign with a spot on the MAAC All-Rookie team. He has 12 points this season from four goals and eight assists. His assists in the Pioneers game against Stony Brook was his first career-point, and he took off from there. The rookie had four multipoint games and notched a season-high three assists in the Pioneers' victory over Canisius.
Sacred Heart will open the MAAC postseason tournament as the fifth seed on Saturday, April 29, as they travel to fourth-seed Siena at noon. The game will be streamed on ESPN +.
