
SHU Finishes Red Bandanna Women’s Invite in Second

Margot Rouquette placed runner-up after a stellar round three
CANTON, Mass. – After posting the lowest team score in round three today, Sacred Heart University women's golf secured a second-place showing at the Red Bandanna Women's Invitational, hosted by Boston College on Monday and Tuesday at the Blue Hill Country Club.
The Pioneers tallied a combined score of 901 (+37) to finish as runner-up to the hosting Eagles (897) by just four strokes. After carding the lowest team score in round two, SHU again showed its skill set by repeating the feat in round three with a 301 (+13). Sacred Heart has finished in second in both of its tournaments this fall, also doing so at last week's Delaware St. Women's Invite.
Individually, Margot Rouquette, who earned medalist honors at the Delaware St. Women's Invite, paced the Pios in solo second place with a combined score of 223 (+7) after tying the best round shot in round three. The senior from Montiron, France, posted a one-under 71 on the tough course this afternoon that ceded just three under-par rounds. Rouquette burst out of the gates on the front nine with four birdies, with three coming in the final four holes of the front.
Kailee Welch placed next for SHU in a tie for eighth. Welch carded a 10-over 226 (75-76-75) at the event. The Huntington Beach, Calif., native shot a three-over 75 today, which tied her round one's score and was one stroke better than round two.
In third place for the Pioneers ws Chantal El Chaib, who finished the event tied for 12th with a score of 227 (+11). The senior did not card a birdie this afternoon in the tough conditions, but still finished the event with four.
The duo of Jessie Burch and Maya Robilio finished three strokes apart, with combined a score of 234 and 237, respectively. Burch finished in a tie for 30th to just edge Robilio in T40. Jensie Nicholas rounded out the group by carding a 247 (31).
The Pioneers will next head to the Pacific Northwest to take part in the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational, hosted by Seattle University on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 2-3. The event will take place at the Tacoma Country and Golf Club in Lakewood, Wash.
