
Brogioli Headlines Women's Track and Field At Ice Breaker Invitational

Massachusetts native nabs two podium finishes for Pios
BOSTON — Magdalena Brogioli's two podium finishes highlighted an eventful day for the Sacred Heart University women's track and field team as it competed at the Suffolk University Ice Breaker Invitational, taking place at the TRACK at New Balance on Saturday afternoon.
Three different Pioneers earned medals at the meet including Brogioli's second-consecutive bronze medal in the 60m hurdles, earning the second-place qualifier in prelims before taking the bronze with a time of 9.06 seconds. Fellow teammates Madeline Archangelo and Ariyana Jackson finished right behind Brogioli, taking fourth and fifth, respectively. Jackson's time of 9.13 in prelims also set a new personal-record.
Elsewhere, in sprints, the Pios earned good showings in the 60m dash from sophomore Jada Alston and first year Jillian Audette with Alston earning the Pios second medal, taking bronze with a time of 7.97. Audette set a new personal-best in the 60m prelims with a time of 7.93 before taking fifth place in finals.
In relays, the Pioneers had their strongest showing to date as Archangelo and junior Tori Chorzepa were part of the mixed 4x400 meter relay squad that took ninth-place, breaking the school record in the process with a time of 3:48.49.
Several Pios had good showings in distance with Carissa Weber setting a personal-best in the 800 meters, taking ninth with a time of 2:25.62. In the 3000m, three Pios placed inside the top-10 as junior's Kelly Parker, Isabella Rogler and Keegan Pepin took fifth, sixth and eighth-place, respectively to conclude the distance portion.
In jumps, Brogioli continued her dominance in the high jump, taking second place after clearing 1.60m for her third-consecutive podium finish in the event. In the triple jump, senior Kaylee Stenderowicz took SHU's last medal of the meet, earning the bronze with a mark of 11.21 meters. Junior Erin Lavelle took fourth in the event, narrowly missing the podium by three-hundredths of a meter to take fourth place. Junior's Jenna Engels and Sydney Abitanto shared sixth place in the pole vault after both clearing 3.35m while in the long jump Lea Bourgeois and Marisa Maio also took top-10 honors to complete the jumps section.
