Senior nabs one event win and sets new personal-best
LYNCHBURG, Va. — Sacred Heart University men's track and field heptathlete Benjamin Healy wrapped up competition on Friday afternoon, finishing in fifth place at the 4th Annual Brant Tolsma Invitational hosted by Liberty University.
Healy concluded the first day of action in the heptathlon, slotting into fourth after four events. The Naugatuck, Conn., native started strong in Thursday's 60m dash, taking the event with a finish of 7.26 seconds before taking on the jumps portion. His competitive showings in long jump and high jump earned him the fifth spot after one day of competition, ending the day with a score of 2495.
Healy continued to battle during day 2, taking a personal-best in the pole vault after clearing 3.75m which was good for fifth place in the event. His fourth-place finish in the 1000 meters concluded the heptathlon as his total score of 4408 saw him take fifth overall.
