
Men's T&F Completes Day at John Thomas Terrier Classic

Pioneers claim seven top-10 finishes during competitive outing
BOSTON — Seven top-ten finishes were on display as the Sacred Heart University men's track and field team competed at the Boston University John Thomas Terrier Classic on Friday, January 26.
In sprints, the Pios had another top-10 showing from Rafael Mahario with the junior finishing seventh in the 400m out of 128 competitors, setting an IC4A qualifying time of 47.82 seconds. In distance, graduate Edward Tristine earned his second IC4A qualification of the indoor season, grabbing a time of 4:12.55 in the men's mile to finish within the top-100 competitors.
The Pioneers best showing was in the 60m hurdles as first years Jeremy Knobel, Kelvin Paulino-Acosta, Kevin Dorio and Ryan McCarthy finished in the top-10 of the Open section of the event. Knobel's, Paulino-Acosta's and McCarthy's finishes were all personal-bests.
In jumps, Nazir Hibbert claimed SHU's sixth top-10 honor, finishing ninth in the high jump after clearing 1.90m on his third attempt at the height. The Pios earned their last top-10 placement in throws as junior Daniel Blatman grabbed eighth place in the men's weight throw with a mark of 16.59m.
