
Men’s Golf Wins Matthews Auto Collegiate Golf Invitational

Lacayo and Lim paced the Pios in third
APALACHIN, N.Y. – The Sacred Heart University men's golf team secured a convincing win at the Matthews Auto Collegiate Golf Invitational, hosted by Binghamton at the Links at Hiawatha Landing in Apalachin, N.Y.
The Pioneers won the team title by 13 strokes, finishing the event with a 13-under-par score of 563. Hosting Binghamton, finishing in second place at even-par 576.
Just like after round one, the duo of Pablo Lacayo and Yu Chan Ji Lim were tied for the lead for the Pioneers in T3rd. Both Pios tallied rounds of 69 and 70 to finish with combined scores of 139 (-5).
Ethan Phillips placed next for SHU in sixth place, after carding an impressive five-under 67, which tied for the best round of the day. Phillips posted a combined score of 141 (-3).
Mike Rothberg finished the event at even par with a score of 144 to tie for 10th place. The junior carded a two-under 70 today, being SHU's fourth golfer with an under-par score.
Rounding out SHU's competitors at the event was Sho Suzuki, who placed in a tie for 89th.
The Pioneers will return to action on Sunday, Oct. 27, for the first round of the Metropolitan Intercollegiate, hosted by Wagner.
