The Pioneers wrap up the first week of the season with their third straight road game
FAIRFIELD, Conn.—The Sacred Heart University men's basketball team wraps up its season-opening three-game week with a road trip to Dartmouth on Saturday, Nov. 9.

- Sacred Heart and Dartmouth meet for the fourth time in the series history on Saturday. SHU is 2-1 all-time against Dartmouth. The two teams last met on Dec. 21, 2023. The Pioneers won 67-57 at home.
- SHU has dropped its first two games of the season, 81-70 at Temple and 92-56 at #3 UConn.
- Amiri Stewart (13.0) and Bryce Johnson (10.0) have scored in double figures in back-to-back games for Sacred Heart.
- The Pioneers are on the road for the first two weeks of the season. Wrapping up its three-game week, at Dartmouth, followed by a trip to Providence, RI for a three-game tournament at Brown next weekend.
- Sacred Heart returns three active members from last year's team: Tanner Thomas, who made nine appearances before missing the remainder of the season with an injury. Raymond Espinal-Guzman, a redshirt junior forward who appeared in 24 games last season, and Aidan Carpenter, a redshirt junior guard who made 30 appearances with 16 starts.
- Thomas was named to the All-MAAC preseason third team.
- Johnson returns to Sacred Heart after a year at Northeastern.
- This year is Sacred Heart's first season as a full-time member of the MAAC.
- The Pioneers have 10 new players on the team.
- Head Coach Anthony Latina begins his 12th season as head coach and 20th year overall with the Pioneers.
- SHU is set to officially reopen the newly renovated William H. Pitt Center on Thursday, Nov. 21, against Central Connecticut State University at 8 pm.
- Sacred Heart dropped its second game of the season, on the road at UConn, 92-56.
- Amiri Stewart (13) and Bryce Johnson (10) scored in double figures, for the second straight game.
- First-years Nyle Ralph-Beyer, Taj Bryant, and redshirt Lucius Gibson-Savadel each made their first appearances with the Pioneers.
- Junior Griffin Barrouk brought in his first points as a Pioneer with a triple late in the second half.
- Ralph-Beyer scored on his first attempt with a three-pointer, securing his first career points. Bryant tallied his first point for SHU with a made free throw.
