Women’s Golf Open Spring in Tie for Second at Texas State Invite

Pios finished the event with a 54-hole score of 909 (+57)
NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas – The Sacred Heart University women's golf team finished in a tie for second in its first tournament of the spring, the 14-team Texas State Invitational at the Landa Park Golf Club in New Braunfels, Texas.
The Pioneers remained in a tie for second place with a good day on Tuesday afternoon. After posting a 36-hole score of 601 (+33) yesterday, SHU shot a 308 (+24) for a final score of 909 (+57) to tie Abilene Christian. The host, Texas State, took the top team prize with a 54-hole score of 861 (+7).
After posting outstanding rounds one and two, Kailee Welch led the Pioneers in a tie for seventh and finished with an eight-over 221.
Chantal El Chaib finished next on the Pios in 10th. She tallied a 74 in round one, 73 in round two and 76 today for a final score of 223 (+10).
Maya Robilio followed up recording her first collegiate hole-in-one yesterday by posting the lowest round on the team today. The junior carded a four-over 75 to finish the event with a 226 (75-76-75). Robilio was the third-highest Pioneer finisher in a tie for 13th.
SHU's final two competitors at the event were Jessie Burch and Jensie Nicholas in T47th and T69th. Both players tallied eight-over 79 this afternoon, with Nicholas' round being her best of the tournament.
