Luke Romanek brings in second weekly honor; James Moran earns first of career
FAIRFIELD, Conn.—Following its Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) opening win over Siena on Saturday, the Sacred Heart University men's lacrosse team has brought in two MAAC weekly award honors. Junior Luke Romanek was named the Face-off Player of the Week, and first-year James Moran won Rookie of the Week.
Romanek had an outstanding performance, winning 14-of-28 (50%) of the face-offs in the Pioneers first conference victory of the season. He also picked up a game-high 11 ground balls. This is Romanek's second MAAC face-off player for the week honor this season.
Moran brings in his first career accolade after just his second appearance this season. The first-year tallied his first-career goal at 10:30 in the opening period, giving SHU a 2-1 advantage. He didn't stop there, Moran scored two more goals in the first frame to record his first career hat trick.
Sacred Heart opened conference play with an 18-8 victory over Siena on Saturday and are back in action this Saturday, March 16, at home against Manhattan College at noon on Campus Field.
