Pioneers Tied for Second After Opening Day of Kingsmill Intercollegiate

Three SHU golfers sit in the top 10
WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The Sacred Heart University women's golf team is sitting in a tie for second after the first two rounds of the Kingsmill Intercollegiate, hosted by William & Mary at the Kingmills Resort in Williamsburg, Va.
The Pioneers own a combined score of 627 (+51) after carding a 319 in round one and a 308 in round two. SHU is tied with Boston University and trails first-place Penn at 617 (+41).
Chantal El Chaib is leading the Pioneers in a tie for sixth. The senior carded an opening round of 80 (+8) before climbing up the leaderboard with a two-over 74 in round two for a combined 154 (+10). El Chaib carded three of her four birdies on the day in the second round.
Margot Rouquette is also in the top eight, sitting in a tie for eighth with a two-round score of 155 (+11). She opened her day with a four-over 76. She followed that up with a seven-over 79 in round two.
Jessie Burch joined her teammates in the top 10, tying for 10th after today's action. The sophomore finished one stroke behind Rouquette with a 156 (+12). Her rounds were within two strokes of each other, as she carded an opening-round 79 (+7) and finished the day with a five-over 77.
Kailee Welch saw the most improvement between rounds as she shaved six strokes off of her first-round 82 (+10) with a 76 (+4) to close the day. The graduate student sits in a tie for 14th, heading into tomorrow's action with a 158 (+14).
SHU's final two competitors today were Jensie Nicholas and Maya Robilio in T27th and T34th. Nicholas tallied scores of 81 and 83 for a 164 (+20). Robilio shaved eight strokes off her opening round of 87 for a second-round 79, finishing the day with a 166 (+22).
The Kingsmill Intercollegiate will wrap up tomorrow morning with round three at 8:45 a.m.
