Women's Golf Ties for Second at Kingsmill Intercollegiate

El Chaib finished one stroke shy of medalist honors
WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The Sacred Heart University women's golf team finished in a tie for second at the tightly-contested Kingsmill Intercollegiate, hosted by William & Mary at the Kingmills Resort in Williamsburg, Va.
The Pioneers finished just one stroke shy of first place with a 928 (+64) after carding a 301 (+13) today, which tied for the second-best team score on the day. The top three teams finished just one stoke apart, as SHU tied Penn and trailed Boston University (927) in first.
Chantal El Chaib finished perilously close to winning medalist honors. The senior had the round of the tournament Monday with a three-under 69 to surge up the leaderboard with a final score of 223 (+7). She finished just one stroke behind BU's Christy Chen. El Chaib carded four birdies to just one bogie in the round.
Margot Rouquette finished next for the Pioneers in a tie for sixth. The Montiron, France, native carded rounds of 76, 79 and 76 for a combined score of 231 (+15). Rouquette tallied four birdies over five holes at the nine-ten turn.
The trio of Kailee Welch, Jessie Burch and Maya Robilio all finished within one stroke of each other. Welch carded a 239 (+23) to tie for 15th, while Burch tied for 20th with a 240 (+24). Robilio led the group Monday with a three over-75 to climb into a tie for 24th.
Jensie Nicholas rounded out the Pioneers at the event in 40th with a final score of 251 (+35).
SHU will be back in action on Friday, March 29, for the first day of the Prospect Bay Intercollegiate, hosted by La Salle at the Prospect Bay Country Club in Grasonville, Md.
