Rothberg and Handley both went under par today

EASTON, Pa. – The Sacred Heart University men's golf team wrapped up play in the Abarta Coca-Cola Collegiate Invitational, hosted by Lafayette, in sixth place following round two competition on Monday.

The Pioneers tallied a team score of 596 (+20) after recording identical rounds of 10-over 298 on Sunday and Monday. Lehigh took the win by 13 strokes with a final score of 572 (-4).

Mike Rothberg and Marcus Lim led the Pioneers, finishing one stroke apart. Rothberg tied for 15th with a final score of 147 (+3) after carding a one-under 71 this afternoon. Lim tied for 19th with a four-over 148 (73-75).

Pablo Lacayo finished next for the Pioneers in a tie for 25th. The sophomore started the tournament with a 72 yesterday before carding a 78 this afternoon for a 150 (+6).

SHU's final competitors at the event were Eoin Freeman, Conor Handley and Jason Pelley. Freeman shaved two strokes off yesterday's score for a final eight-over 152 (77-75). Handley saw the best improvement between rounds with a one-under 71 today, finishing in T37th with an eight-over 152. Pelley tallied identical rounds of 77 for a final score of 154 (+10), good for a tie for 48th.

The Pioneers will have off until the Northeast Conference (NEC) Championships, which will take place on Friday-Sunday, April 26-28, at the Callaway Resort Gardens & Golf Mountain View Course in Pine Mountain, Ga.
