Men’s Golf Starts the Abarta Coca-Cola Collegiate Invite Tied for Fifth

Lacayo leads the Pioneers in T6th
EASTON, Pa. – The Sacred Heart University men's golf team opened the Abarta Coca-Cola Collegiate Invitational, hosted by Lafayette, in a tie for fifth place on Sunday afternoon at the Northampton Country Club in Easton, Pa.
The Pioneers carded a combined score of 298 (+10) in round one to tie Fordham in fifth. Lehigh leads the event with an even-par score of 288. SHU is three strokes shy of second place.
Pablo Lacayo led the Pioneers with an even-par 72 on Sunday, tying for sixth place. She carded birdies on three of the final four holes of the front nine and on both the 11th and 12th holes.
Marcus Lim is next on the leaderboard for SHU in T14th with a one-over 73. The senior carded three birdies, two on the front and on the 18th hole.
The trio of Mike Rothberg, Eoin Freeman and Jason Pelley finished within one stroke of each other. Rothberg paces the group in T28th after carding a four-over 76. Freeman and Pelley are tied for 35th with identical scores of 77 (+5).
The second and final round of the Abarta Coca-Cola Collegiate Invitational will kick off tomorrow morning.
