Pioneers finished with a 54-hole score of 881 (+29)
UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. – The Sacred Heart University men's golf team finished the Seattle U Redhawk Invitational in a tie for 13th place after the final round Tuesday at the Chambers Bay Golf Course in University Place, Wash.
The Pioneers posted a 54-hole score of 881 (+29) to tie Simon Fraser in 13th place in the 18-team field. SHU carded a 302 (+18) Tuesday after rounds of 290 and 289 in Monday's opening day. Oregon State won the event with a final score of 827 (-25), which cleared the field by 19 strokes.
Leading the way for the Pioneers was Marcus Lim in T20th with a combined score of 214 (+1). The senior finished the event with a four-over 75 on Tuesday after rounds of 71 and 68 yesterday.
Mike Rothberg placed next for Sacred Heart in T31st with a three-over 216 (71-70-75). Rothberg matched Lim with a 75 (+4) this afternoon.
Eoin Freeman, Jason Pelley and Pablo Lacayo all finished within four strokes of each other at the event. Freeman took T74th with a final score of 225 (+12), while Pelley carded a 227 (+14) to place T81st. Lacayo concluded SHU's competitors in T89th (229, +16).
The Pioneers are back on the course for the Abarta Coca-Cola Collegiate Invitational, which starts on Sunday, April 15. Lafayette will host the Tournament at the Northampton Country Club in Easton, Pa.
