
Women's Golf Widens Lead at NEC Championship

Pioneers own a 27-stroke advantage on second place
PINE MOUNTAIN, Ga. – The Sacred Heart University women's golf team dominates through two rounds of the 2024 Northeast Conference (NEC) Championships, increasing its lead to 27 strokes after round two on Saturday.
The Pioneers' team score is 570 (+10) after two rounds of this weekend's championship, after rounds of 282 and 288. Howard is in second place with a 597, narrowly ahead of Merrimack (598) and LIU (599).
Chantal El Chaib continues to run away in the medalist race, improving her lead in the individual standings to six strokes after carding a one-under 69 today. For the tournament, the senior owns a combined score of five-under-par 135 (66-69). El Chaib finished round two with one birdie on the front nine and two on the back.
Margot Rouquette climbed six spots on the leaderboard with a one-under 69 today to move into second place. After tallying a two-over 72 yesterday, the Montiron, France, native heads into round three with a score of 141 (+1).
Kailee Welch remained in third place after recording a two-over 72 this afternoon, putting her at a two-over 142 (70-72) for the tournament. The graduate golfer opened the day with two birdies in her first three holes.
Maya Robilio and Jessie Burch rounded out SHU's golfers today in T21st and T25th, respectively. Robilio heads into the final day with a score of 154 (74-80), while Burch is at 157 (79-78).
