Morgan O'Reilly is the second All-American in program history
SPARKS, Md. — Sacred Heart University men's lacrosse senior attacker Morgan O'Reilly was named the second All-American in program history on Thursday morning. USA Lacrosse announced the 2024 Division I All-America selections, and O'Reilly earned a spot on the Honorable Mention team.
O'Reilly wraps up his senior season as the second-leading scorer in the country with 54 goals. His 54 goals in a new single-season scoring record for the Pioneers. The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Player of the Year led the team this season with 68 points, coming from 54 goals and 14 assists. He had an 18-game goal-scoring streak from the MAAC semifinal vs Siena in 2023 through the 2024 MAAC Championship game.
The Rockville Center, NY native has been among the top in the nation in offensive stat categories. He is ranked sixth in goals per game (3.00) and is tied for fourth in man-up goals (8). On April 25, he was the nation's lone leading scorer with 49 goals. O'Reilly had a career year, he put up a career-high nine points against Stony Brook to open the 2024 campaign, coming from seven goals and two assists. He has scored five or more goals in three games and has 15 multipoint games this year.
O'Reilly hit the 100-career point milestone against Siena on March 9 and scored his 100th career goal against Mount St. Mary's on April 13. He is the second All-American in program history, following Max Tuttle, who became the first in 2018 and earned the recognition again in 2019.
O'Reilly led the Pioneers to their most successful season in program history. Making the program's first appearance in the NCAA Tournament, winning the first MAAC Regular Season title and MAAC Postseason Championship, recording the most wins in a season (13), and having a program-best 11-game win streak.
