Men’s Golf in Seventh After One Round at UConn Invitational

Four Pioneers sit in the top 23
HAMPDEN, Mass. – Sacred Heart University men's golf is in seventh place following the first round of the UConn Invitational, hosted at the GreatHorse in Hampden, Mass. on Sunday.
The Pioneers finished the opening 18 holes today with a combined score of 294 (+6). SHU is just one stroke shy of being in a four-way tie for fourth place. UConn is tied with Rhode Island for the lead at the event with scores of 287 (-1).
Leading the Pios is the duo of Pablo Lacayo and Mike Rothberg, who are tied for 18th with scores of 73 (+1). Lacayo edged his teammate with four birdies today, while Rothberg tallied three.
Jason Pelley and Ethan Phillips also finished with identical scores, as the pair are tied for 23rd with rounds of 74 (+2). Pelley ended the day with two birdies, while Phillips racked up three.
Robby Zyskowski III, SHU's final competitor on Sunday, is tied for 61st after an opening-round 79 (+7).
The second round of the UConn Invitational is slated to start tomorrow at 8:30 a.m.
