Women's Soccer Heads to Fairfield for Semifinal Matchup

Fairfield, Conn. – The Sacred Heart University women's soccer team is making the short bus drive over to Fairfield University as they are set to face the Stags in the semifinals of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championship tournament. Kickoff is set for Thursday, November 6, at 6:00 pm.

Last Time Out
- The last meeting between these two teams came back in September, when the Stags outlasted the Pioneers in a 4-1 victory. For much of the contest, however, the game was tightly contested. Fairfield held a narrow 1-0 lead at halftime. The Stags took a 2-0 lead in the 60th minute, but Martyna Krzysztopik immediately struck back in the 61st to cut the deficit in half. Fairfield was then able to pull away as the remainder of the game went on.
- Fairfield had the advantage in shots, 23-10, and held the advantage in corner kicks, 7-3.

- The Stags enter this semifinal matchup following an outstanding regular season. They posted an impressive 15-1-2 overall record and went unbeaten in conference play at 10-0-2, securing the top spot in the MAAC standings and the No. 1 seed in the tournament.
- The Stags were dominant on both ends of the field during the regular season, scoring 49 goals while allowing only 11. Their +38 goal differential led the MAAC by a wide margin. Fairfield also outshot its opponents 392–153, showcasing the team's relentless offense and consistent defensive strength.
- Senior forward Maddy Theriault captured the MAAC Golden Boot Award for the second consecutive season after an exceptional campaign. She led the conference with 15 goals and added four assists, totaling 34 points.
- Senior goalkeeper Katie Wright earned the MAAC Golden Glove Award following a phenomenal regular season. Wright became the Stags' all-time wins leader after recording 13 victories this year. She finished the regular season with 41 saves and an impressive 0.71 goals-against average.

- This Thursday marks the eighth time these two programs will meet.
- Fairfield holds the advantage over the Pioneers with a record of 1-4-2 and most recently won earlier in the regular season by the score of 4-1.
- First year, Riley Pettigrew was a postseason hero this past Sunday. Her first two career goals came in dramatic fashion. Her first was in the first half to tie the game at one, then her second was in the second half, which was the game winner. Pettigrew will look to bring more of her magic to Fairfield this Thursday.
