SHU is on the road for its first of the three-game tournament
FAIRFIELD, Conn. — After opening the season with a dominant 103–46 victory on Tuesday, the Sacred Heart University men's basketball team heads to Pittsburgh to open the Villanova Challenge against Duquesne on Friday, Nov. 7, at 7 p.m.

- Sacred Heart and Duquesne meet for just the second time in program history.
- The first meeting took place on Dec. 20, 2002, in Caguas, P.R., where the Dukes earned a 74-63 win.
- Both teams are coming off season-opening victories:
- Sacred Heart defeated Merchant Marine, 103-46, on Tuesday.
- Duquesne topped Niagara, 83-63, on Monday evening.

- Tarence Guinyard (19) and Jimmie Williams (17) both scored in double figures.
- The Dukes shot 56.4% (31–55) from the field and 42.3% (11–26) from three-point range.
- Duquesne was picked ninth in the Atlantic 10 Preseason Poll and returns two starters — Cam Crawford and Jakub Necas — from last year's squad.
- The Dukes feature eight newcomers on their 2025–26 roster.
- Abdou Yadd scored in double figures in his collegiate debut.
- Anquan Hill recorded his first double-double of the season, shooting 64% (9–14) from the field.

- Jeremiah Jacobs and Jaden Slaughter tallied their first career points.
- SHU reached the 100-point mark for the first time since Dec. 2024 (100–60 win over Manhattanville).
- The Pioneers have now won their home opener in four straight seasons and earned their first season-opening victory since 2023–24.
