Men’s Golf Takes Ninth at Weather Shortened Savannah Intercollegiate

Four Pioneers sit in the top 35
SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Sacred Heart University men's golf team opened the spring portion of its 2024-25 schedule at the weather-shortened Savannah Intercollegiate, hosted by SCAD on Saturday, Feb. 15.
The Pioneers placed ninth place after the first two rounds of the tournament with a combined score of 581 (291-290), five strokes over par. The event featured just 36 holes, as the third round was called off due to rain. Longwood won the event at -18, while USC Beaufort took second at -15.
Ethan Phillips led the way for the Pioneers in a tie for 28th, with an even-par score of 144. The graduate student opened the day with a two-over 74 before tallying a two-under 70 in round two. Phillips' strong second round was highlighted by six birdies.
Eoin Freeman and Pablo Lacayo were next on the team in a tie for 31st at one-over 145. Freeman went 72, 73, while Lacayo carded a 70 and a 75. Lacayo tied Phillips with eight birdies on the day.
Yu Chan Ji Lim and Mike Rothberg placed next for Sacred Heart in T35th and T41st. Lim carded a two-over 146, while Rothberg recorded a three-over 147. Robby Zyskowski III was the final Pioneer on the leaderboard in T71st at +11.
