
Men’s Golf Rallies to Win SHU Spring Break Invite

Phillips Claimed Medalist Honors
ORANGE PARK, Fla. – The Sacred Heart University men's golf team pulled off an exciting comeback on Thursday, Mar. 6, to take the win at the SHU Spring Break Invite, hosted by the Pioneers at the Eagle Harbor Golf Club in Orange Park, Fla.
The Pios claimed their second win of the season with a combined score of 596 (298-298), which is 20 over par. SHU erased a six-stroke deficit to beat St. John's by one stroke.
Ethan Phillips won medalist honors after being the only golfer to card an under-par score today. The graduate student tallied one-under 71's in both rounds to finish with a two-under 142. The win is Phillips' first as a Pioneer.
Mike Rothberg, Pablo Lacayo and Yu Chan Ji Lim all finished within one stroke of each other at 151, 151 and 152. Rothberg shaved five strokes off his round one score with a one-over 73 today, while Lacayo went 75-76 to also finish at +7 for a tie for ninth. Lim tallied a 78 (+6) today and tied for 14th with final score of 152 (+8).
SHU's final three golfers were Eoin Freeman in T38th, Robby Zyskowski III in T41st and Sho Suzuki in T56th.
The Pioneers will have off until the end of the month, when they head to the Seattle U Redhawk Invitational on Monday-Tuesday, Mar. 31-Apr. 1.
