Women's Track and Field Win Five Events at The William Sutherland III Invitational

Engels breaks a program record for the second straight week
New Haven, Conn. – The Sacred Heart University women's track and field team turned in a fantastic performance Saturday morning at the William Sutherland III Invitational, capturing five event victories.
The first event victory of the day came in the women's 200 meters, where Marisa Maio edged out the field to claim first place with a time of 27.15 seconds. Morricia Bryant followed closely behind, finishing third at 27.64 seconds.
The second event victory of the day came in the 3,000 meters, as first-year Caroline Barker claimed first place with a time of 11:04.20. The performance marked a career-best for Barker.
The third victory of the day came from Ava Hill in the 5,000 meters. Hill claimed first place with a time of 20:08.23, finishing well ahead of the field. Lucy Connell placed second at 20:23.43.
Next up was Kayleigh Troy, who earned a win in the high jump with a mark of 1.60 meters. The performance marked the highest jump of her career.
Jenna Engels capped off the Pioneers' day by breaking the program record in the pole vault for the second straight week, clearing 3.80 meters. She continues to impress and aims to build on this momentum in future meets.

The Pioneers return to action next weekend on Saturday, January 31, traveling to Boston to compete in the Harvard University Women's Invitational. The meet is scheduled to begin at noon.
