MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – Behind three different goal scorers and a stellar performance from
Teagan Kendrick in net, the Sacred Heart University men's ice hockey team completed a series sweep of Robert Morris on Saturday with a 3-1 win at the Colonials' Clearview Arena in Moon Township, Pa., for three more Atlantic Hockey America (AHA) points
Records:
SHU: 9-7-2, 6-4-2 AHA
Robert Morris: 4-12-2, 4-5-1 AHA
How It Happened:
The Pioneers struck first in today's contest, scoring after just three minutes of play. After a
Noah Ellis shot from the blueline, the rebound went uncleared, as
Charles Tardif tipped the puck to
Cole Galata who slapped it into the back of the net.
After RMU tied the score midway through the frame, SHU retook the lead, 2-1, at 14:23. Some back-and-forth play from
Marcus Joughin and
Felix Trudeau led to a centering pass to
Vitaly Levyy, who calmly redirected the puck by the goaltender for his third goal of the season.
The second period ended in a scoreless stalemate as the game transitioned to the third with the Pioneers still up 2-1.
Liam Lesakowski added to the SHU lead at 7:55 with his first collegiate goal. The junior from Buffalo, N.Y., fired a one-timer from the blueline that beat the screened goalie to his glove side to make it 3-1 Pios.
A three-goal cushion was more than enough Kendrick between the pipes, as the surging first year made 46 saves to earn his second consecutive win.
Notes
- In his 70th career game, Lesakowski scored his first collegiate goal.
- Kendrick made a season-best 46 saves.
- Mikey Adamson played in his 100th career game this afternoon.
- Galata and Levyy both scored their third goals of the season.
- Trudeau tallied his second straight multi-point game and his eighth of the season.
- SHU is now tied for fourth in the AHA with 18 points (5-4-2).
