Women's Track and Field Claimed Second in the MAAC Championship

Adekunle shined
New York, N.Y. – The Sacred Heart University women's track and field team turned in a fantastic performance after finishing second overall in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) championship. The team finished 17 events and secured 98.5 points.
After a successful day one for the Pioneers, Sacred Heart kept its momentum going. Ariyana Jackson started the day off with an event win in the 60m hurdles. She finished in 8.75 seconds and gained ten valuable points for the Pios.
Nyahingiva Musa had another great performance in the 60m event. She finished second overall with a time of 7.59 seconds. This was good enough to gain eight valuable points.
Jenna Engels continued her dominant season with an event win in the pole vault. She cleared 3.80 meters to secure first place, earning 10 crucial points for Sacred Heart University and adding to the Pioneers' championship total.
To close out the meet, Suzan Adekunle delivered another strong performance with a second-place finish in the shot put. After claiming an event win in the weight throw on day one, Adekunle continued to shine on day two. Across both events, she totaled 18 points for the Pioneers, playing a key role in the team's overall success.

The Pioneers are back in action in two weeks, as they will travel to Boston for the New England Intercollegiate Indoor Track & Field Championships. The two-day event will kick off on Friday, March 6, at 10:00 am and will conclude the following day on Saturday, March 7.
