Raleigh, N.C. – The Pioneers competed early but couldn't overcome a pair of big innings from the Wolfpack in a 17–4 setback.

Sacred Heart fell behind quickly in the first inning as NC State got on the board with a sacrifice fly and a two-run homer, going up 3–0 before the Pioneers could get a swing off.

Sacred Heart broke through in the third inning when Kyle Cincinnati scored cutting the deficit to 3–1. NC State answered right back with multiple hits and a home run to stretch the lead again.

The biggest offensive moment for Sacred Heart came in the fourth inning when Dave Yorke launched a three-run home run over the right-field wall, driving in Ronan Donohue and Will Cook and pulling SHU to 9–4.

After Yorke's homer, NC State responded with a big fifth inning that included RBI hits, a two-run double, and a three-RBI homer of their own, pushing the score out of reach. Additional runs in the sixth inning sealed the Wolfpack's victory
