Men's Lacrosse Brings in Three MAAC Weekly Awards

Marks the first weekly honor for Pioneer trio
EDISON, N.J.— Following its 16-11 season-opening victory over Stony Brook on Friday, the Sacred Heart University men's lacrosse team earned three Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Weekly Awards.
Senior goalkeeper Craig Daria was named MAAC Defensive Player of the Week, sophomore Ryan Grove earned Faceoff Specialist of the Week honors, and first-year Jake Carney was selected as Rookie of the Week. It marks the first career weekly honor for all three Pioneers.
Daria backstopped Sacred Heart with a career-high 16 saves in his first career start, earning his first collegiate victory.
Grove dominated at the X, winning 22 of 29 faceoffs. He added a team-high eight ground balls and scored his first career goal.
Carney recorded a hat trick in his collegiate debut while also collecting two ground balls and causing one turnover.
Sacred Heart returns to action on Wednesday, Feb. 11, traveling to Wagner for a 3:00 p.m. matchup.
