West Haven, Conn. – Sacred Heart baseball notched four doubles but fell short in a 4-2 loss to Yale.

Yale scored a run in each of the first two innings to take an early lead Tuesday afternoon.

Sacred Heart's pitching staff settled in from there, highlighted by Will Saxenmeyer striking out the final batter of the third inning on three pitches.

In the fifth, Chuck Tallman doubled to left field, while Schueller recorded two strikeouts in the bottom half of the inning to keep the Bulldogs off the board.

The Pioneers continued to threaten at the plate, with Will Rudolph doubling in the sixth inning, but Yale extended its lead in the bottom of the frame with a two-run home run.

Sacred Heart broke through in the eighth when Ronan Donohue doubled and later scored on a wild pitch. On the mound, Andrew Sager struck out back-to-back batters in the bottom of the eighth to keep the Pioneers within reach.

In the ninth, Kyle Cincinnati doubled and later came around to score, but Sacred Heart could not complete the comeback as Yale held on for the 4-2 win.
