Sacred Heart at Quinnipiac Suspended in the Ninth Inning

Hamden, Conn. – Friday's game between Sacred Heart and Quinnipiac was suspended at the start of the ninth inning with the score tied at eight. The game will resume prior to tomorrow's contest, beginning at 1 p.m.
Sacred Heart jumped out to an early lead in the first inning when Will Cook singled to bring home Ronan Donohue. Peter Link followed with an RBI single to score Cook, and Will Rudolph later crossed the plate on a passed ball to give the Pioneers a 3–0 lead after one.
The Pioneers added to their advantage in the second as Ronan Donohue launched a two-run home run to extend the lead to 5–0.
Sacred Heart broke the game open in the sixth when Link delivered a bases-clearing double, bringing home Gavin Donohue, Rudolph, and Cook to make it 8–0 midway through the inning.
Quinnipiac began to chip away in the bottom of the sixth with two runs before putting together a five-run seventh to close the gap. The Bobcats completed the comeback in the eighth, scoring once more to tie the game at 8–8.
After the inning, the coaches and umpires met and decided to suspend the game due to darkness. The contest will resume tomorrow at 1 p.m.
