He becomes the second SHU player to win this honor from the conference
BOSTON – For just the second time in a Sacred Heart University men's ice hockey history a Pioneer was named the Atlantic Hockey America (AHA) Player of the Year, as standout senior Felix Trudeau collected three major awards on Tuesday evening.
In addition to being named the Player of the Year, Trudeau was tabbed the Forward of the Year and was the league's Scoring Champion, which is awarded to the player with the most points in AHA play. The only Pioneer to be named the AHA Player of the Year was Jason Cotton in 2019-20.
Trudeau has been outstanding all season, helping to lead SHU to a record campaign. The Pios have won a program record 23 games and are heading to their first AHA Title Game since 2010.
Trudeau heads into Saturday's championship game with AHA leading 25 goals and 47 assists. He's leads the country with 12 power play goals, is second in total goals and fifth in points. He collects the Scoring Championship by having the most points in league play, as he has tallied 16 goals and 17 assists for 33 points. He also two goals shy of tying the single-season program record in goals with 25.
The Pioneers head to Waltham, Mass., to play Bentley in the AHA Championship Game on Saturday, March 21. The bout is slated to start at 7 p.m.
