Three program records lead the way

Philadelphia, PA. – The Sacred Heart University men's and women's track and field teams concluded their two-day meet at the 130th Penn Relay Carnival at the University of Pennsylvania on Friday night.

The Pioneers had few entries at the meet, but they made the most of their opportunities, breaking three school records.

On day one, sophomore thrower Tyler Durang broke the program record in the hammer throw. Durang finished fifth overall out of 25 competitors with a mark of 59.57 meters.

On day two, Sacred Heart broke two more program records, both coming in the sprint medley relay events. Nyahingiva Musa, Sierra Thompson, Julia MacLaine, and Emily Raymond broke the women's SMR record with a time of 4:04.04.

Gavin Alvarez, Colin Brown, Lance Hayes, and Joshua Voorhees followed with a record-breaking performance in the men's SMR, clocking a time of 3:25.76.

Up Next:
The Pioneers are back in action tomorrow, splitting between two meets. Sacred Heart will compete at the Stonehill College Invitational, set to begin at 12:00 p.m., and the Vassar College Invite, scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m.
