How It Happened
Siena jumped out to an early lead, scoring two runs in the first and adding another in the second despite Jake Friel recording multiple strikeouts in both innings.
Friel continued to battle, ending each frame with a strikeout, but the Pioneers trailed 3–0 early.
Jase Schueller took over and helped settle things on the mound, recording multiple strikeouts through the middle innings. Siena added a run in the fourth and two more in the sixth to extend its lead.
Sacred Heart got on the board in the fifth as Gavin Donohue walked and advanced before Daniel Rice singled to put runners on the corners. Kyle Cincinnati drove in Gavin Donohue with a sacrifice fly to cut into the deficit.
Siena continued to add on late, scoring in the seventh and again in the ninth.
The Pioneers pushed across one more run in the eighth after JW Fitzgerald walked and later scored following a sequence that included a fielder's choice and groundout from Gavin Donohue.
Andrew Sager recorded a strikeout in relief in the ninth, but Sacred Heart ultimately fell 10–2.
