Women's Tennis Falls 7-0 at St. John's

QUEENS, NY — After its win Monday at home, the Sacred Heart University women's tennis program dropped a 7-0 contest at St. John's in the Red Storm's season opener on Tuesday.
The Pioneers fall to 1-2, while the Johnnie's advanced to 1-0.
SJU dominated throughout, but the dramatic duel between the Pioneer's Katsiaryna Starastsenka and Oceane Garibal at number three singels went into a split-set tiebreaker before Garibal was able to seal the seventh victory, 10-8, and final match point.
St. John's picked up the first point in doubles play, with won decisive victories but Ciara O'Toole and Starastsenka lost a close 6-4 decision at number one.
SHU has a week of rest before playing in-state competitor UConn on March 10 at 1:00 p.m.
