Women's Tennis Earns Seven All-NEC Awards

SOMERSET, NJ — Following a third-place regular season finish, the Sacred Heart University women's tennis program achieved seven All-Northeast Conference honors, announced by the league on Friday.

Katsiaryna Starastsenka earned NEC Rookie of the Year honors, the first in program history. The Mogilev, Belarus native had an impressive season with an 8-3 singles mark, including a 6-1 record against conference rivals competing primarily at the number two and three position. The first-year also captured the NEC Rookie of the Week three times on March 24, April 7 and 14.

Starastsenka, along with sophomore Vitalina Golod, garnered First Team All-NEC in singles, while Starastenka and partner Ciara O'Toole claimed First Team All-NEC in doubles. 

O'Toole also secured Second Team All-NEC in singles. Starastsenka's third award was a selection to the All-Rookie Team where she was joined by Flavia Rambaldi.

The Pioneers concluded the season with a 5-6 overall record and 4-2 in the conference.
