How it Happened:
After a scoreless first inning and two out in the second, catcher Steak Newman hit a bomb to right center for a one-run home run to put the Pioneers on top first.
The Midshipman responded in the third with an RBI base hit from Brock Murtha to tie things up.
The fifth inning saw the most action between the teams. With two out and a runner on, Peter Link doubled to the left center to plate JW Fitzgerald.
In the bottom of the fifth, the Midshipman responded with two runs to take a 3-2 lead. Murtha plated Tyler Bouchard with a triple to right center. Murtha scored on an RBI ground out.
The Pios immediately responded to tie things up. With runners on the corners and one out, Ronan Donahue plated Dante D'Amore with a ground out.
SHU continued their scoring streak in the seventh with D'Amore's second hit of the day to score Link with a base hit. McGuire drove D'Amore home with a base hit up the first base line for the 5-3 lead.
Navy scored on a ground out in the bottom of the seventh to close the gap to 5-4.
The Pioneers secured the win in the bottom of the ninth with a double play at second and first.
Sacred Heart will return to Bishop Stadium to face Navy for the last game of the series tomrrow at 1:00 p.m.
